About The Role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our team on a 12 month contract, with the potential for a full time position after this.

Our headquarters in Galway has over 200 employees, with additional offices in Lille and Cologne. We operate over 280 physical retail stores in Ireland, the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands, together with a substantial on-line business in each country.

This role is located at our Head Office in Galway.

Salary: €65,000 - €75,000 (depending on experience)

Responsibilities

• Analysis of financial and non-financial data with a view to identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies / reduce costs and maximise revenue.
• Involvement in period end close activities and Management accounts preparation including P&L and Balance Sheet for a number of statutory entities
• Analyse and make sense of complex, and high quantity information to effectively solve problems and aid decision making
• Responsibility for reconciling and reporting key costs in the P&L and business streams and monthly reviews with budget holders on same.
• Assist in preparation of year end statutory accounts for a number of group companies including consolidation accounts.
• Project work as directed by Head of Finance / Finance Director – focus on automation, process improvement.
• Mentor junior staff across various sub departments (Accounts Payable, Reporting etc).
• Key role in yearend external audit of the Financial Statements
• Involvement in the Preparation of annual budgets, cashflow forecasts for the group.

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)
• 1-2 Years PQE in practice or industry
• Strong analytical /data analysis skills an essential
• Ability to understand and manage complex intercompany / consolidation accounting processes
• Experience in Group / multi-country entities is an advantage
• Experience in SAP an advantage
• Strong communication skills a necessity, ability to communicate effectively with non-finance colleagues in other departments
• High level of commercial awareness, and an ability to shape the future of the business and not just analyse the past
